Welcome, one and all.

You wake up in a broken down building. Cold, hungry, and a little dirty from the dusty floor. Of course, it's nowhere you recognize and you're bound to be confused and scared.. but no worries. You're not alone.

Loud music can be heard through the broken windows and if you happen to look outside to see where it's coming from, you'll see a bright, lit-up carnival within walking distance. A few blocks down the street. You might even catch sight of another stranger walking towards the only source of life able to be seen in this destroyed city, and if that's not enough to entice you.. maybe the smell of fried and sweet carnival food will.

Either way, when you arrive at the front gates you're greeted with an info booth to the left, and a ticket booth to the right. The information booth has envelopes with the sign "take yours" next to the stack. They're sorted alphabetically and have a bunch of strangers names on them.. but one is definitely yours. Upon opening the envelope, you'll find a pamphlet inside describing your newfound power-- your Quirk, as they call them here. It tells you what it is, and gives you a very basic rundown of how to use it. It's up to you to make it yours, and figure out how you want to use it. Or if you're even going to use it at all.

In the ticket booth, there's a sign in the window that says "Admission is free." You're free to walk in without having to pay, and enjoy yourself to the fullest.

You might want to. It's the last happy moment you'll have in your life.


the games.

It's a carnival, so of course there's plenty of rigged games to test your skills and maybe even win a prize or two. From a shooting range with all the targets being wood cut outs of a superhero, to an old fashioned "throw the ball at this totally not superglued stack of cups to win a prize" game, you'll find an assortment of things to do and fun to have. Every game has a sign somewhere around the stand that reads: REMEMBER: CHEATERS ARE WINNERS. There's a man at every single stall in this park as well and it's always the same guy. Odd, that. Maybe he has 20 twin brothers, or maybe it's something to do with his Quirk?

Either way, games cannot be won without the use of your Quirk. This place is.. sort of like a testing ground, if you will. Get creative with the ways you want to win your prize or if you're a straight laced kind of fellow, just keep failing over and over until you get bored.

The games are as follows:

Shooting Gallery (every target is a different cut out of that one hero, but it's not rigged. The guns are.. extremely realistic. And so is the blood that shoots out of the wood targets...? (it's paint))
Ski-Ball (no matter where you throw them, the balls always seem to go into the "0" hole.)
Ring Toss (The rings won't go around the sticks even with a perfect throw.)
Strength Test (Normal strength won't work here. This is especially good for those with Quirks that make them physically stronger.. or you could just throw a projectile at the bell to win.)
Balloon Darts (Every balloon has a picture of some kind of hero printed on it. This and the All Might shooting gallery aren't rigged.)
Horse Race (The guns won't shoot water, so you'll have to get creative with how to move your horse across the track.)
Ball Throw (Glued to the table. But... if you just destroy the cups, that will count as a win.)
Duck Pond (Just a normal duck pond game. Is there anything more rigged than pure luck?)

These aren't your typical carnival games either. Each prize you win is a ticket, rather than a physical prize. And those tickets can be refundable at the Prize Booth! Though.. it might be better to just let yourself lose than bother with these prizes.

Maybe.

the food.

We'll get to the prizes in a moment, because what's more important is that rumbling in your tummy and the smell of curly fries in the air that'll satisfy that hunger of yours.

...except everything is. Well. It certainly Is. It's all free, but it might be hard to take in what you're about to eat.

MENU:

THE SWEETS CONCESSION:

"BLEEDING HEART CREAM PUFFS" - They're red, they're fluffy, and they're.. beating? These cream puffs look about as realistic as you can possibly get with baked goods, with a bright red cream filling that oozes out with every bite.

"BONE PRETZEL RODS" - They're pretzel rods covered in white chocolate, shaped to make them look like realistic human bones. Maybe.. too realistic..

"BRAIN CUPCAKE" - Little brains made with red velvet and raspberry filling. Delicious yet terrifying.

"ELEPHANT'S EAR" - ........it's an actual elephant ear. Don't. Eat that one.

SAVORY STALLS:

"SAUSAGE LINKS" - You think this will be just one or two, don't you? You weren't prepared for an entire basket of 20 sausage links and ketchup, purposefully put together to look like bleeding intestines.. were you?

"HOTDOG FINGERS" - Are they actually hot dog? Or actually fingers? It's really hard to tell with the mastery of the carving and technique put into cooking these.. but they sure are delicious!

"HAND BURGER" - Burger in the shape of a hand. Yep. That's literally it.

"MEAT TWINKIES" - You might be asking yourself... what is a meat twinkie? Do I want to know? It sounds horrifying, like something that should have never been invented and yet. When you ask for one................. you're simply handed a corn dog on a stick.

BEVERAGES

"BLOOD" - Of course this would be an option. Of course it would. You have the choice between choosing real blood or the fake version, which is a lovely mix of tomato and strawberry juice, with a hint of lemon.

"THE TERRIFYING AND OTHERWORLDY BEVERAGE THAT SOME HAVE COME TO KNOW AS.. COCA-COLA" - Does this really need a description?

(Feel free to make up any other creepy foods/beverages for your characters to try out!)

Ah, finally.. prizes. Just what you've been waiting for, right? The prize booth is a stand in the back of the carnival, with another one of the same guy standing behind it ominously. You can see what kind of prizes are in store for you from afar, and if you turned your back to them.. I wouldn't blame you.

Because, you see, hanging from the ceiling, stacked on shelves, or hanging up on the wall behind the clerk at the prize counter are countless weapons. Guns, knives, grenades, swords.. anything you can think of. They all have a ticket number next to them, indicating how much they're worth, and they're intimidatingly real. Why would someone be crazy enough to just.. give such awful things away? What kind of person would even do that?


..maybe the same person who kidnapped a bunch of people, gave them super powers, and forced them to attend a carnival.

It's not all bad, though! There's one prize that's very much unlike the others that might catch your eye. A gold box sitting neatly on the counter, simply labeled "Home." The price is 1000 tickets for that one.. and most of the games run at about 100 tickets each win. If you want to see what that prize might be, you better start cheating fast-- before someone wins it first.

This is the tdm prompts I've written up for you guys, and I've intentionally set it out of the school and the actual murdergame setting to save those interactions and such for the game for real. And as for the "Home" prize, it's simply an item from home. Any character can win it as it will be restocked as often as it's won, and if you decide to apply after playing on the TDM, the carnival will be game canon (barring retcons of characters who aren't in the game when it starts) so you may keep that item into the actual game upon opening. It's basically a free regain of any item you'd like from their home! If it's too big to fit in a box, it'll be a picture of it and they'll be directed to an area behind them where the real prize is waiting for them.

This is also your orientation and your introduction to the setting, ICly. So welcome to the fun. (NOTE: This was going to be game canon but I realized there's a problem aka characters interacting for voice testing or just to have fun on the TDM who also are not apping. That's a problem because It'd be weird to start people off with retconned memories of certain conversations so instead! This is just a fun TDM to do whatever you'd like! I'll post a different orientation log when the game starts!)

[Who in god's name wears this sort of archaic mess anymore. Somnus stood just past the entrance, frowning sharply at the pamphlet as he read it. Whatever it was telling him, he seemed none too pleased about it.]

[Eventually he would be found lingering around the games with a look of uncertainty, observing how they were played and operated as though he'd never seen anything of the sort before. Or perhaps around the food, examining a bottle of Terrifying And Otherworldly Coca-Cola, attempting in vain to pull the cap off, and then looking around as if he expected someone was playing a highly elaborate joke on him.]

[ ...Well, it's not every day you wake up in a haunted building attraction. That's what Choromatsu's first thought is upon waking up, at least. After all, he hears carnival music nearby. But no, he's just in an broken down building that just so happens to be near a carnival. So yeah, this is... weird. And concerning. Especially considering he doesn't feel hungover in the slightest, which means he didn't just end up here through some drunken shenanigans. What kind of skit is this? And where are his brothers?!

...Well, guess he's going to the carnival. It's the only place he can go to, really.

When he finally arrives at the gates, there's an envelope with his name on it waiting for him at the info booth. Which just makes him suspicious as hell. ]

Huh?!

[ He still takes the envelope but he's still on edge, even when he sees the sign that says admission is free. ]

This better not be haunted! ...Or a scam!

[ But deep down, something tells him it's neither.

...Seriously though, where are his brothers? ]

The Games



[ It's not a carnival without some rigged games to play. The other brothers might be gullible enough to play, but Choromatsu is rather sceptical of these types of games. Even though he himself would fall for these types of games eventually. ]

As if I'd play these stupid games...

[ He says as he scours the area, checking for what kind of game he could play. Seriously, Choro. ]

The Food



[ Well, it's been long enough for Choromatsu to get hungry. So of course he's gonna look for some food. And when he arrives at the Sweets Concession, well...

The very sight of a beating cream puff that looks way too much like a beating heart is enough for him to give a yelp and stagger back in shock. ]

W-WHY IS IT BEATING?!

[ Aaand he's lost his appetite. ]

A. Welcome

[ Four awakens with a start, gasping as she does. Immediately her hands go to where Zero had stabbed her to try and stop the blood... but there isn't any. No familiar wetness, not even a single stain on any of her clothes. Was it... just a dream then? Did she merely have a nightmare of her dearest sister finally making good on her plan to kill her and the others...?

There's a wash of relief over that, but it doesn't last long. This... isn't her castle. It's not her airship or her quarters she used when she visited One. That brings the terror right back. She tries calling for her disciple. No response... actually that might not be such a bad thing. But it's still weird and scary!

It's not long before she's out of the building and running towards the carnival, attempting to flag down anyone she sees. ]

H...Help! Please help me! Please!

[ It's shameful for an intoner to run to civilians for help, but she doesn't know where she is and for all she knows, Zero could be hunting her down right this second... ]


B. The Food



[ Now that she's had a bit of time to calm down and realize she's not the only one in this awful situation she's taken to looking around this rather... tacky establishment. The games don't particularly interest her (or rather she doesn't... know how to play them) and everything is so different from what she's used to that it's off putting. She's sure that a freak like Three would probably feel right at home though... which probably just makes her dislike it all the more.

She's currently at a food stall, grimacing at the offerings. She picks up a cupcake, poking it with one gloved finger. If your charactedr is also at the stall she evitably turns to them. ]

Don't you think all this is...

[ She wipes the brain top off with her finger and frowns even harder at the red filling inside. ]

[Briar has been giving only token caution to the situation thus far anyway, but that goes out the window when she hears Four's call for help. She sprints over, looking a little too enthused for someone who's just been kidnapped.]

[Okay. So this was pretty weird. But fortunately the type of weird she's used to. Which, on reflection, may not be so much fortunate as it is the basis for another few sessions with her therapist once she gets back home.]

[But she's alive (good) and free to move around (also good) even if she is missing all her belongings (not ideal but hopefully fixable).]

[At the moment, she can be found skeptically at the admissions sign, arms folded, her informational envelope in one hand.]

...Okay. So. Eating the food in situations like this? Typically not a good idea. You know, fae type pomegranate bullshit? But when that's the case it's usually, you know, stuff people would actually want to eat, ever.

I can't tell if this is some kind of double-bluff, or some magical kidnapper who just doesn't get humans, or- someone who just thinks this is normal food, and that's worrying.

[Whatever 9S was expecting when he felt himself boot up (at least, that felt like a boot up sequence, though something is decidedly Off), a freaking carnival sure the heck wasn't it.

Whatever, he'll play along for the time being. It's not that Pod 153 isn't here with him, but he doesn't need her to tell him to grab and read the envelope with his designation on it (though he's not sure he believes what the pamphlet says) and head into the carnival.

9S will most likely be at the skee ball (eventually just walking up and shoving the ball into the correct hole, he read that sign), balloon darts (good non cheating wholesome fun...sorta), or just watching you. The longer you struggle, the quicker he'll speak up.]

You know, you're probably supposed to cheat at these games.

[The young man with the pipe seems to be taking the whole kidnapping thing very casually. As he wanders around he eyes the stalls, occasionally adjusting his monocle. Most of the games don't interest him much, but you might find him at the shooting range taking very deadly shots at the 'hero'. headshots, gut shots, blowing off limbs. He has quite the pile of tickets growing there, doesn't he?]

[As a Food Soul he is almost attracted to trying out exotic food. He's almost disappointed that the food is mostly just made up to look horrific. He takes a few of the items and settles at a picnic table, eating and smoking, very relaxed like this was a normal country fair]

[He didn't remember the building being in an abandoned fairground, nor did he remember the reverend leaving out letters for anyone... Much less this many people.

He frowns as he opens the letter with his name on it and reads through the pamphlet... Raising an eyebrow at the information inside.]

A "quirk?" Surely, I must be dreaming. [He glances about for any familiar faces, dead or alive, but no. He's by himself. Alone.

He can manage.]

Food.
[He didn't trust the games at first. Pop-up carnival games tend to be rigged, and he didn't exactly wake up with any money on him... But the food was free, so he gives that a chance first.

Then he actually sees what's there to offer.

And smiles.]

Oh, what beautiful presentation! I never would have expected this level of artistry from mere carnival fare!

[Yes, he's actually admiring the hotdog fingers and bone pretzel rods. They remind him of his art back home.]

Excuse me, where is the chef? I must compliment them on their work!

Prizes.
[At some point, he must have acquired some tickets from one of the shooting galleries. The prize shop is just as unexpected as the rest of the carnival, and yet he is making a beeline for the knives and saws...

He hums to himself as he inspects this collection...] Hm, this one's a bit blunt... [He seems to be looking for something sharp. Something that will make a clean cut and not damage the flesh so much... At the same time he's also looking for anything he could use as a tool, but since this carnival seems to cater to serial killers in general...]

[That's all she says but... She seems a bit doubtful of this description.

The fact that they look like bones doesn't bother her very much though, she's taking one to snack on after she's finished with the corn dog - er, meat twinkie - she already has.]

[So this is a spooky carnival with evil games and weird rules. You may find yourself lost entering it. But you probably don't look as lost as Swim Swim, who is wearing a swimsuit, presumably incredibly far away from any possible bodies of water that she could have been swim-swimming in. Despite this, the girl merely has a blank expression, and walks around the carnival just taking it in. None of it really seems to phase her. After an initial patrol, she orders a "meat twinkie" in a very quiet voice and receives it without further comment.

She does stop in front of the CHEATERS ARE WINNERS sign, staring at it as though deep in thought, and then giving an understanding nod.]

I should try to be the winner. That way I can prove myself for the time while I am here.

[The home prize is the most expensive so she's gunning for it. After looking at each game, she gets to work, immediately using her quirk, and transforming into - who else? This guy is everywhere in this park after all.

So everyone, meet your new hero, Swim "All Might" Swim, who is now going to the strength test and slamming into it with a super-strong bare fist. Ding! Ding! Ding! She'll do this as long as the machine keeps spitting out tickets, too. Just patiently whaling on the machine without much of a care while looking like the dude on all the targets, no biggie.

Once that gets too dull, she'll try disguising as the other guy and go off to see if the other carnival shop owners will accept her as one of their own. If she's manning the booth then she can just gut it for tickets while the carnie is away, probably.

If that exploit fails, though, she can always just revert back to her original swimmer-girl form and pop some balloon darts. That's an easy game, and fun too, although her face remains basically deadpan while she's doing it.

Then, after hours of diligence, Swim Swim will finally get the home prize, and it's a big ol weapon. Holding it upright, she stares at it with what is possibly fondness, maybe.]

Welcome back...... 'Ruler.'

[Claudine's words come as she's putting the notes she has back into the envelope. It's one thing to wake up in a weird place, it's another entirely to have someone claiming you have superpowers. It's enough to almost - almost! - make her laugh at just how ridiculous it all is.

That's when she turns and looks at the stack of envelopes again; she had stopped scanning them once she had picked up her own.]

...tch. Of course you aren't here.

[To say that Claudine looks a little green as she looks over the food on offer is an understatement. She's used to things that are decidedly less ghoulish-looking. Don't even get her started on the idea of drinking blood.]
